Our Leonora community

St Barbara invests in the Leonora community via support of local community events, in-kind support, sponsorship and donations. We have developed community partnerships that aim to provide long-term benefits to the Leonora region.

Some of our partnerships in the Leonora region include support of the Shooting Stars (Leonora) and Clontarf Foundation (Kalgoorlie) programs which help Indigenous youth from local communities to continue their education and achieve their goals. Our support of the Leonora Shooting Stars has helped increase school attendance by Indigenous girls by 24% above the average school attendance in 2018, and by 19% in 2019.

In addition, St Barbara supports programs at Leonora District High School, such as the Teach Learn Grow program, which provides tutoring and mentoring to students in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas, Career Pathways and the Indigenous Hip Hop Project, which travels across Australia delivering contextualized dance and music projects.

We also support the Gold Industry Group’s $5 million partnership with Netball WA, the largest ever investment in women’s sport in the state. The proceeds benefit from grassroots through to elite levels of netball across Netball WA, West Coast Fever and Shooting Stars.
