    Laird Brownlie brings extensive mining experience having held a number of senior operational roles across a range of resources, including iron ore, fluorite and other base and precious metals in Canada and the United States.

    Laird joined St Barbara in July 2019, following St Barbara’s acquisition of Atlantic Gold Corporation, where he held the role of General Manager. He was appointed as Head of External Affairs and Business Continuity in 2021, leading external engagement and permitting requirements to support the Atlantic suite of projects.

    Previously, Laird has held the roles of Vice President and General Manager of Cliffs Natural Resources (now Cleveland-Cliffs Inc.), General Manager of Canada Fluorspar, and Director Operations at Hudbay Minerals, where he was responsible for three mines, two concentrators, a zinc plant, central services, labs and analytical services. Laird has also held the roles of Plant Manager and Plant/Operational Excellence Manager at Smurfit-Stone and Horizon Plastics.

    Born and raised in Scotland, Laird holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Diploma of Business in Operations Management.
